Hockey Pride

"... shine a spotlight on those in the sport who are, like them, LGBTQ+ and visible – and through the power of social media, a powerful project began to take shape..."

- Sports Media LGBTQ+

Concept

The project was inspired by Pride month, which happens in June. In 2021, the NHL announced that it would celebrate Pride Month by showcasing the stories of allies within the sport. As critical as allies are to the support and progression of LGBTQ+ community and Human Rights, Pride Month is about the historical impact of LGBTQ+ movement and uplifting the voices of those within the community. This motivated 20+ LGBTQ+ volunteers, who are passionate about hockey and social change within the sport, to come together and showcase over 100+ video stories of hockey fans within the community.

Role

My role in this project comprised of editing raw video footage, graphics, captioning, and producing compelling short clips to feature across social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram
